New to Stamping? Have you used clear stamps before? If not, it is so simple. The stamps are created to be used with acrylic blocks. You just peel the stamp off of the sheet it comes on in the package and place it on a block that is the correct size. Now just ink it with the stamp pad you want to use and you are ready to go. Clean off the stamp and return it to the package and your acrylic block is ready for another stamp.

Step One: I thought this dove stamp was just perfect for a little ornament for the Christmas tree. It makes a cute gift and it can also be a way to give a money or gift card holder. Stamp the inked dove on white cardstock. I inked mine with Black Versafine ink and then I embossed it with Clear embossing powder. I like that the embossed lines make the black more intense and I like having the “walls” of those embossed lines when coloring in with my markers. I used Copic markers because I really like how easy they are to blend. Memento black stamp pads are also a good choice with the Copics if you aren’t going to emboss. I stamped the dove two times because I want to cut the flowers from the second one so I can layer the flower part. Color in the flowers and leaves. I colored in the flowers on the dove even though I was going to layer a second flower over each of them. Cut out the ornament. Cut out the flowers only on the second one (For the second ornament, I added shadowing around a portion of the dove so that is also shown in the photo)

Step Two: Glue the cut out ornament on a larger piece of the cardstock color you want to use. This would also work with felt. You will need two pieces of the same color and same size of cardstock so you will have a front and a back to work with.

Step Three: Cut around the ornament with zig zag scissors, cutting through both layers of cardstock, leaving a good size border. The size of border will determine the size of your finished ornament. You can also use just a straight cut edge. I thought the zig zag edge made it look more like I was using felt. Sew around the ornament, leaving the top edge open for now.

Step Four: Open the sewn ornament with your fingers and stuff this with small pieces of crumpled paper. You can stuff it to your liking but you need to be able to close the top edge. Once it is stuffed like you want, sew the top portion closed. You can catch a ribbon into the ornament as you sew the top. |

Step Five: Cut out the extra flowers, that have already been colored. Use a small piece of foam tape to place them over the flowers that are already on the stamped dove. It is fun to have this 3-D look. I did color the flowers that are underneath the layered flowers because from different angles, these flowers will still show. |

Step Six: Add rhinestones to the middles of the layered flowers. Tie the ribbon into a knot or a bow so the ornament can be hung on a tree. |
|
 |
|
ALTERNATE ornament: For an alternate ornament, I cut around the ornament with straight edge scissors and sewed around the dove but did not stuff this one or sew across the top to close it. With the ornament open at the top, money or a gift card can be tucked inside. I punched two holes and threaded my ribbon through them for my hanger.

The flowers for this ornament were colored in a slightly different color scheme, some of the edges of the dove were shadowed with a light Copic marker and that shadowed area was accented with Tulip’s Glitter Fashion 3-D Paint. This is a great, subtle glitter.
